C³ International, LLC provides custom engineered chemical treatments using nano-scale infusion technologies that are configured to the unique requirements of a variety of industrial applications. This “make to order” technology platform allows C³ to create and offer as a service, or license, unique infusion treatments that benefit manufacturers and consumers alike. It promises to obsolete other coating technologies and services used to treat the surfaces of manufacturing materials due to its high performance and ease of application.

MIST Technology

Developed in conjunction with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, C³'s Molecular Infusion Surface Treatment (MIST) has outperformed conventional coatings by 10x for cutting tools and by 40x for aluminum die casting tooling accessories. Customer feedback and field test reports clearly indicate that improved performance and life-extension offered by C³'s treatment are exceptional and have never been experienced by other conventional coating techniques. The metalworking tools and catalytic devices which have been treated have also seen increased lifetime and higher performance. In addition to industrial tools and components, C³'s treatment holds other potential applications ranging from improved performance for catalytic filters to improved efficiency for solid oxide fuel cells.

MIST can infuse up to 94 elements in any combination into the surface of metals and alloys, securing these elements with a thin, nanostructural coating. The MIST process can be performed on site.

According to Dr. Jacob Stiglich, a Research Associate with the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines, C³'s MIST is cost effective and user friendly: “I have never seen a simpler, more cost effective process that is as user friendly as the C³ surface treatment." Stiglich added: "In my 30-plus years of working on surface treatments, I have never seen a technology with C³’s wide range of imparted properties, and scope of potential applications that reach into so many industries.”

MIST Wins R&D100 Award, Enters Technology Hall of Fame

September 2006.

Alpharetta, GA, based C³ International's patented nano-scale treatment "MIST" has been selected to receive the prestigious R&D 100 Award by an independent judging panel, in conjunction with the editors of R&D Magazine. Widely held to be the most esteemed honor in applied research, R&D Magazine's R&D 100 Award recognizes the "100 most technologically significant new products and processes of the year."

Selection of R&D 100 winners is a sophisticated process, lasting nearly a full year, it involves a judging panel of almost 50 independent technical experts who lend their expertise in evaluating the details of the product entries compared to other existing products and technologies. And with over 20,000 new products introduced annually, competition for the Award is stiff. Indeed the high caliber of the products under review led the Chicago Tribune to dub the R&D 100 Award the “Oscars of Invention.”

C³'s team is proud to accept the award and honored to join the list of R&D 100 winners.

Previous R&D 100 Award winners include:
