The C-3 infusion treatment extends the life of die casting tooling by reducing the attachment of molten aluminum as well as wear damage to these parts. The result is a reduction in the cost of tooling and, more importantly, the downtime associated with cleaning or replacing non-operational parts.

In late December 2007, C-3 entered into a one year exclusive licensing agreement with Magna-Tech Manufacturing to accelerate and expand the commercialization of C-3 technology in the aluminum die casting and aluminum/magnesium extrusion industries. This agreement was made possible by a) very positive test results of C-3 treated parts by die casters and their interest in establishing ongoing commercial use of the C-3 infusion treatments and b) the complimentary and synergistic potential to Magna-Tech of adding C-3’s technology to Magna-Tech’s current business lines and customers.

Magna-Tech provides a wide range of services to die casters including vacuum resin impregnation of their porous aluminum castings (i.e. engine blocks, transmission housings, etc.). The resin impregnation seals the micro-voids of the casting in order to meet pressure retention requirements of the end-user. Magna-Tech provides these services from seven plants strategically located near their customers in North America, including Canada and Mexico.
